Pillow Power!

If you can't make a quilt....
 Make a pillowcase!!!!

Or TWO!!!!

These are for a 9 year old boy who just
underwent a FIVE organ TRANSPLANT!!!
Talk about AMAZING!

Even better....

Here's an idea from my friend.....
Make pillowcases for the siblings who are at home and healthy.
They could really use some special attention too!!!!

I used an old pattern that is VERY similar to this one.
I made my accent strip wider though...
Instead of 1 1/2" like some patterns call for...
I cut mine 3"(much LESS fiddly). ;)

Another note about these pillowcases:
Be CAREFUL using directional prints!
I had a VERY hard time figuring out ...
wrapping my brain around....
which way to cut the fabric
so that the horses and cars were going side to side
and not UP AND DOWN!

I'm sure YOU won't have THAT problem though!!!!

  1. Oh, I would definitely get the patterns upside down! I must get around to making them sometime, too many things on my wish list!

  2. That's a great idea Beth. Good to have some around for all sorts of times. I think the Foster organization accepts them. Another good place to take them.

  3. I love how you always remind me of the other things I can be making besides quilts. These are great!

  6. Oh I know what you mean about cutting into great fabric and not sure of the directions. Sometimes I can't wrap my head around that too. Brain freeze it what it's called. A duh moment. I used that truck fabric for my grandson's windows. I wonder if I have enough to do a pillow case

  7. Those are adorable pillowcases! I like making pillowcases when I'm stuck in between quilts or in between quilting decisions. It's so easy to whip out a pillowcase and feel like I've accomplished something.
